2015 Kia Optima vs. 2015 Hyundai Sonata Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the back seat will feel a little more squished in the Kia Optima than in the Hyundai Sonata, due to the Kia Optima's smaller rear head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the Kia Optima and the Hyundai Sonata in the front seats.

Convenience
With the Hyundai Sonata you will definitely be making less frequent stops at the gas station than with the Kia Optima, due to its tank size and fuel economy.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Kia Optima is somewhat more expensive than the Hyundai Sonata. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Kia Optima and the Hyundai Sonata have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
The Kia Optima is a little narrower than the Hyundai Sonata, so you'll have an easier time getting in and out of the car in a tight parking spot. When looking at overall length, the Kia Optima takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the Hyundai Sonata.

Handling
The Kia Optima has about the same turning radius as the Hyundai Sonata, allowing equal maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the Kia Optima and the Hyundai Sonata. The Kia Optima has less cargo capacity than the Hyundai Sonata, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The Kia Optima comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Hyundai Sonata.
